The Kachina Dolls are the art of Hopi with variation of the Hano Clown being found in the Hopi Mesas and many of the pueblos in New Mexico. The Hano Clown Kachina embodies both the sacred and profane with actions that are highly amusing but embarrassing to anyone, including the Hopi. Their presence in times of ceremony can cause havoc as they are notorious for overdoing everything they set out to do. Often pictured with watermelons, connoting gluttony, this Hano Clown Kachina is an excellent example of the art of the Hopi carvers. Artist: L. Jim.
